Photo show - June 21, 2017 - 4-8 p.m.
Court House Cultural Center
You ever had Guiness straight from the source?
Probably not since we’re here in the states and Dublin is a long damn way to go for a beer … even one so good it makes you never want to leave Ireland. I had way too many of those moments when I took my family to my ancestral homeland last summer, but we came back anyway.
I won’t get to taste Guiness straight from St. James Gate in Dublin this summer, but at the end of June I’ll relive my trip in photo form in a photo show at the Court House Cultural Center’s World Culture Series in Stuart, Florida. It’s a one-night only thing, June 21 from 4-8 p.m. and there will be plenty of stuff to keep anybody busy and teach you a few things, too.
Music, Food, Drink and Photography
The exhibit will be the kind of event I like … a good way to spend a night with great friends, great music and quality food and drink provided by Carsons Tavern. And there will be shots of Ireland … lots and lots of shots of Ireland, from the St. JamesGate Brewery and a great glass of beer to an ancient church and graveyard at Glendalough to the standard shots everybody expects in an Irish experience — the Cliffs of Moher, though I saw them on a day with typical Irish weather, so you’ll get to look at a lot of fog. They’re still plenty cool, though, and there’s so much more to Ireland than can be imagined without actually making the trip.
One of the cooler moments came when I was hiking with my family around Glendalough and we encountered a couple of kids just playing violin on the side of a three-kilometer trail. You can see all the breweries and castles and cliffs, but it’s those kinds of experiences that make every trip different and make shows like this worth all the work.
And maybe somebody will find something that they’ll want to take home … or that will inspire them to take their own trip.
