Long gone are the days of being able to produce cool content that plays well in a magazine. Ask any professional camera carrying chap, things are tough out there. Budgets have all but disappeared, space is sooooo limited, it’s a constant battle to get paid, it ALMOST takes the fun out of producing a great piece of work.
Which is why I feel so totally blessed to have this client (not sucking up ms publisher – just the facts) … I am one of the go-to-guys for a series of six regional publications that allows me the time and the space to make great pictures that I am happy to have here and be able to display.
Shooting the assignment Sports Buddies entailed six different locations over the course of six days. I traveled some with an assistant, lit a couple of the portraits, used perfect Florida natural light for the others… got wet, fell off a ladder, dodged go-carts traveling at freeway speeds, and hung out with cool people. Once the publication hit the streets, I received dozens of congratulations and praise by friends, clients and the subjects of the images. I love this editorial photo gig, SOOO very cool…

Very Nice!
Stevie:
You make it look like you just walked up to these people, snapped a couple of (perfect) frames, and got back on your bike! Great work, as always, bro.
Sweet!
I completely go along you! I’ve often felt like that but nobody really really wants to take it as seriously as we do apparently. Great blog incidentally, I’m going to need to drop by more often.
