There are many many days in the life of a commercial photographer that are not that glamourous. When I tell folk what I do, most of the time I leave out the details about the trench work, I talk about exotic foreign travel, movie stars and musicians, private jets, unlimited expense accounts and experiencing the best the world has to offer.
And that’s about 10% of my work, the other 90% is local photography and motion picture work for clients (whom have all become friends…and vice versa) in Florida and Oregon.
So recently, my biggest account and favorite bar stool mate needed some shots of the properties that he works for. No problem, we shot some of the areas after an executive portrait, the places were busy, people, traffic, light wasn’t great…overall average at best images.
But, at the beginning of the year, i made a commitment to step up my game, not be lazy, and bust ass to make better pictures.
Well, building mug shots…if there was any time to step it up, building mugs are that time.
My buddies patiences (i was a couple days behind schedule) and a couple early morning and late nights out on the mean streets of Martin and St Lucie Counties, here in Florida, I kicked a little butt and delivered some dynamite images!!!
So, with a little added commitment, getting up before the roosters for a couple days in a row, I made some shots that I am proud to give to my client, display here, and maybe even use for an eblast or two.
My lesson, i get out of a shoot what I put in to it, good luck comes to those who work hard and are well prepared, doing that little bit extra leads to great pictures and happy clients!!!
