House photography

Sometimes I am called upon to shoot architecture….usually it is for the resale of an estate home, occasionally for a magazine, and every once in a blue moon, i am shooting architecture in a resort of hotel environment. This series of images was made for the client, with the hopes of selling the home. My dear friend Tara Biek, of Tara Biek Creative, actually some of her peeps, fed me the job, and TBC is doing the resale design work for the client. On this shoot I brought a portrait photographer friend to show her how i approach architecture, and my super cool intern, whom, at 15, has got more style in her little finger than i have amassed in all my years….

anyway, we all hit this house, shot it with hot lights, arris, instead of traditional strobes….so that i could show my friends how to see the light, in real time, as it falls across the furniture and how I use light to accent certain pieces and make a room glow.

Finally, in an utter bout of laziness, I busted out my mac-daddy spot light, and used it to “paint” two rooms that were a little small and the thought of bringing in hot lights wasn’t really working for me.

So, I set my camera to f16 or so, dragged my shutter to a full 30, and used my spot light to accent the parts of the room that i wanted lit, Wiggeling it fast across the details gave me the desired effect, the client was happy, her daughter ( a bride to be….maybe have a wedding shoot out of the architecture assignment) was happy and hopefully, the house sells, and the client gets to start a new chapter in her life….

enjoy the images….
